Are these open courses or are they tailored to our current skill-level? Good training does not just teach certain skills. It has to motivate, inspire and empower so that the participants return to the workplace wanting to practise their new skills, continually improve and learn more. We believe strongly in just enough training. Too much can have as negative an impact as too little. We also believe in making the training fun, so that it stimulates; activity based, so that participants learn by doing; and competency based so that the participants identify their own starting points and objectives and drive the course to excel and achieve. Our course design process has three phases: Step 1: Pre-training research Time spent in the workplace, meeting your team and relevant managers and speaking with each individual enables us to gain an insight into the training needs and to observe their performance. It also allows team members to discuss their requirements and any concerns, and to establish an understanding of the purpose and benefits of the planned training. During the pre-training research, we gather relevant case study material to use in the workshops and any performance standards and training course content will be designed. Step 2: Delivery of Training Workshops To enable each participant to fully contribute and receive input from the trainer we recommend that a maximum of nine participants attend the sessions. If the training courses require multiple days, we recommend that the workshops are delivered one day per week. This allows participants to practice their new skills in the workplace and consolidate their learning. Step 3: Coaching and Evaluation The importance of the impact of coaching on the continued effectiveness of training cannot be over emphasised and we encourage clients to provide on-going coaching. Designated coaches are taken through a two-day Coaching and Evaluation workshop to equip them with the necessary skills to appraise their team members, enhance existing skills and improve performance. Your performance standards are used as a foundation, ensuring that the process is both objective and measurable. Please contact us if you want to discuss your needs in more detail or find out about attaining new levels of skills.
